Cadson Manor, Our Cornwall Country House

We rented an apartment in Cadson Manor for our Cornwall stay. Part of the house dates back to the 13th Century, although the part we stayed in was added later. You could tell it had once been a great manor house. Until a year or two ago, it had been run as a five-star B&B with self-catering accommodation. But when the house sold, the new owners decided to only rent out the apartment portion on the west side.

We were pleased, because it meant that we and our friend Shirley were the only guests. Our 2-bed, 2-bath apartment wasn't large, but included several amenities, including a well-stocked kitchen with a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer. It wasn't cold enough to have a fire, but we spent our evenings visiting and watching British TV in the cozy lounge. (There is a new series of "Fake or Fortune," so I wonder how long it will take to show up in the U.S. on Acorn or BritBox?)

The weather was uncertain, alternating between showers and small moments of sunlight. We took advantage of breaks in the rain to explore the land and walked down to a small pond down the hill.

I loved the view out of the lounge window, which changed with the light. We sat looking out at the scene while we savored our real Cornish cream tea with scones, clotted cream, and jam that the host left for us. (Well, Shirley and I did. Kevin didn't have any cream tea, He missed out!)

The weather kept us from taking any walks in Cornwall, but we did make a few outings that I will cover in future posts. And with a comfortable place to relax and a delicious cream tea, we really couldn't complain. We could pretend, as in the photo below, that we were the lord and lady of the manor.
